David Sklanskys Brainchild

Well-known gambling strategist and celebrated author David Sklansky has created a stir by laying a claim to the introduction of the casino favorite Carribean Stud. Sklansky recently made the claim in an article on twoplustwo.com, a website where he is a moderator, partial owner and frequent contributor to the site’s fortnightly magazine. Nobody until now has been able to lay claim to the foundation of the game Carribean Stud. Many stories have come forth over the last twenty years about the true origins of the game. While alot of the particulars differ, the contrasting stories all agree that the game was originally played in the Caribbean region. Presently, through Sklansky’s disclosure, it seems the games beginnings lie in the USA and not the Caribbean. David Sklansky says that he originally came up with the idea for the game back in 1982. Casino Poker, Sklansky’s game used 5 card stud poker rules and hand scores and each person in the game would have to play their hand versus the house. While largely the same in the underlying rules, Casino Poker and Carribean Stud Poker did have a few key differencesformatting, progressive jackpots are employed to make the game more appealing via five and six figure jackpot sums and the dealer exposes only the last card they are dealt. In the original game, the dealer had to show two of his cards and there were no associated jackpot prizes.
